HYBRIS: Art against Climate Change (ENG)

Conversation with artist Yana Zschiedrich who lets the building material styrofoam be decomposed by mealworms in her installation »HYBRIS«, together with Fraunhofer IBP. To do this, she lets the mealworms eat along templates, creating artistic reliefs. Through the feeding work, polystyrene is also transformed into a biodegradable substance (mealworm excretions). The artist Yana Zschiedrich shapes sculptures from this new substance. The installation »HYBRIS« deals, among other things, with the condemnation of nature through the spread of a human-centric worldview and the attempts of humans to escape the subsequent effects. Zschiedrich creates installations together with mealworms that deal with the relationship between architecture, society and nature. She examines how architecture is shaped by political interests and what effects this can have on design, society, human psyche and ecosystem. Language: English

FUNGI: The Power of Mushrooms (ENG)

Discover the huge potential of fungi and other living substances with Mara Sandrock and Julia Krayer. The artist Mara Sandrock cooperates in the project «Material performance using living substances« with the Fraunhofer UMSICHT to explore self-organizing materials such as bacterial and fungal cultures in an artistic context. Always looking for innovation, performative materials and organisms, she experiments with everything that comes her way and creates enchanted images from it. Language: English

Inside Plants: How sensors and sound reveal the hidden life of plants (ENG)

In this talk, we explored how the installation »Inside Plants« by Paul Bießmann and Fraunhofer IIS was created and what it tells us about the inner life of plants. The installation lets visitors experience the innermost parts of plants in a three-dimensional musical sphere. It was created by recording the movements and states of plant leaves by sensors and transferring them to a 3D soundsphere. Language: English

»Neugefragt« ist eine Zusammenarbeit von Katrina Günther, Lilith Boettcher, Wenzel Mehnert und Bernd Hopfengärtner. Zukunftsnarrationen werden bei »Neugefragt« weitergedacht und kreativ-spekulativ zugespitzt. Was wäre, wenn uns alle Daten der Welt offen zur Verfügung stünden? Was wäre, wenn eine starke K.I. Realität wird? Was wäre, wenn wir mit Maschinen so interagieren würden, wie mit echten Menschen? Die aktuelle Forschung im Feld der Informatik wirft viele Fragen auf und das nicht nur in der Wissenschaft. Auch außerhalb der Forschung wecken emergierende Technologien Neugier, aber auch Hoffnungen und Ängste. Das Projekt »Neugefragt« sammelt und denkt diese Fragen weiter. Sprache: Deutsch

Das Karussell der Sinne: Wenn reale und virtuelle Welt verschmelzen (DE)

Christiane Wittig lässt mit dem »Karussell der Sinne« eine interaktive Raumskulptur entstehen, die virtuell, bildhaft und akustisch durch die Interaktion der Betrachtenden angetrieben, beeinflusst und verändert wird. In Zeiten von erweiterten Realitäten lädt die Künstlerin gemeinsam mit dem Fraunhofer IWU dazu ein, sich theoretisch, philosophisch und praktisch mit sinnlichen Erfahrungen auseinanderzusetzen. Was passiert mit unseren Sinnen, wenn die reale und die virtuelle Welt miteinander verschmelzen und was hat das für Auswirkungen auf unser Sinnesleben? Sprache: Deutsch

Panel: What's Next in Generative AI? (ENG)

With experts from corporations, start-ups and academia, during this panel we tried to find out how the field of generative AI will continue to develop. The following questions were discussed: How will AI chatbots and text generators influence our everyday work? Will AI that generates images, videos and audio disrupt the creative industry - or become its most powerful tool? How will Generative AI change the internet? How can ordinary users, as well as companies, make use of the power of generative AI in a safe and responsible way? In addition, we made a joint attempt to forecast the development of AI in the coming weeks, months, and years.
